eBay Mobile will be “ready to go” on new Telefonica O2 phones
Starting later this year the eBay mobile app icon or a link to the eBay mobile site will appear on either the home page or two subsequent pages of most Android™, Windows® Phone 7, Symbian and bada devices sold by Telefonica’s O2 in the UK over the next two years. The company said it will work with device manufacturers to pre-install the application.
This is the first mobile pre-load deal agreed by eBay anywhere in the world, and the first time Telefonica has selected an app to make available to its O2 smart and feature phone customers across the board. eBay’s mobile app is one of the most popular shopping destinations for O2’s customers who are already responsible for a significant proportion of eBay’s UK mobile traffic.

Do you like pizza and live in Israel? Then Dominos and PayPal have something just for you!
Had to share this one with folks… Domino’s Pizza Israel is collaborating with PayPal to enable customers ordering pizza online to pay for the purchase in a secure way with PayPal, without the need to disclose their credit card details.
From Globes [online], Israel’s business news:
The collaboration between Domino’s Pizza and PayPal in Israel is the first venture of its kind in the world, and the pizza chain will likely expand the model to its European branches. The objective of the collaboration is to enable Domino’s Pizza’s hundreds of thousands of Israeli customers to pay for their online purchases quickly and securely on Dominos’ Pizza Israel’s website, and to benefit from PayPal’s sales promotions and discounts.
Domino’s Pizza Israel’s website is the largest fast food websites in Israel, handling thousands of orders a day. Online sales account for 40% of all sales, making the Israeli site among the top Domino’s Pizza websites in the world in that area, including in the US.
As an added incentive, during the introduction period, those paying with PayPal will receive a 6% discount.
GrubHub
In related news, GrubHub launched PayPal as a payment option in the US in August 2010. Mike Evans, GrubHub co-founder and COO talks on San Francisco affiliate KNTV-NBC Ch. 11 about the PayPal integration, and how it’s making ordering food online that much easier for consumers.Cheers!

Notes from the Road: eBay at CES 2011 – Sneak Peek at eBay Flick2TV
I was fortunate enough to have time to walk around some of the other booths at CES last week and made it a point to stop by the Panasonic area on the show floor. I knew that eBay manager of platform business solutions, Rob Harris, would be demoing a new technology (still unavailable publicly and still in its prototype phase) called eBay Flick2TV.

Augmented reality in your hand. eBay Fashion iPhone App now includes “See It On” Sunglasses feature
The year is a mere 7 days young and one of the eBay Ink SMSeller predictions (from @eBetsy) is already in full swing. The eBay Mobile team has been working on some new functionality for some of its applications that seems to be right out of a Sci-Fi movie. With the release of the updated eBay Fashion iPhone app today, augmented reality has become… well, a reality [groan]…
Version 1.2 of the eBay Fashion iPhone app is now live in the App store and includes a new “See It On” Sunglasses feature (requires iPhone 4 & iOS 4.0) that uses augmented reality to let shoppers virtually try on sunglasses! Here’s how it works… (More …)

eBay reveals mobile shopping trends of 2010
It seems only fitting that what should prove to be my final blog post of the year (I’m literally walking out the door right now to surprise my kids with a trip to Disneyland), is focused on eBay mobile. It has been a hot topic on the blog for some time now and, based on feedback I’ve been getting from eBay Ink Social Media Sellers, it will be even hotter in 2011. I plan on sharing a 2011 predictions post with you all, based on that feedback, early next week. In the meantime, I wanted to share some of the insights revealed by eBay earlier this morning specific to mobile shopping trends of the past year.
Have a very safe and happy New Year!! Back with you all next week.
Cheers!
RBHIn the U.S., the top five categories ranked by the number of items sold through eBay’s mobile apps for the year were: clothing shoes & accessories; cell phones & PDAs; collectibles; jewelry & watches; and toys & hobbies.
I’ve written about eBay’s interactive infographic application already and have been impressed with how it allows folks to see eBay mobile shopping trends for the year within the top 20 eBay product categories. Looking back, eBay’s infographic reveals the following trends: (More …)

“Mobile Sunday” is the busiest eBay Mobile shopping day ever… #ebaynews #MobileSunday
Ever wonder what the busiest mobile shopping day of the year is? For eBay it is the second Sunday in December.
“MOBILE SUNDAY”
Yesterday, for the second year in a row, mobile holiday shopping on eBay peaked globally. This year over $13 million in GMV (gross merchandise volume) was generated yesterday – up 165% over the same Sunday last year. In the U.S., eBay mobile accounted for nearly $5 million in GMV, up 127% over the same Sunday last year and up 38% over Cyber Monday 2010. (More …)

Cyber Monday sees @ebaymobile jump 146% – New eBay interactive web app shows global mobile shopping trends #eBayMap
In step with pretty much every story I’ve been reading over the past few days, eBay shoppers also went mobile on Cyber Monday (why are we still calling it that by the way? I mean, isn’t every day “cyber day” now? Seems so retro… like an Atari game or something… But I digress.) Specifically, U.S. mobile commerce sales jumped 146% year over year, with California, Nevada, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Florida leading the way as the top mobile commerce shopping states. Mobile shopping peaked between 5 pm and 7 pm PST. Spokespeople for the company have said on more than one occasion that eBay mobile is expected to generate more than $1.5 billion in gross merchandise volume in 2010, compared to $600 million in 2009.
What I’m really fired up about playing with is a new interactive infographic app available at ebayinc.com/mobilecommerce that captures eBay mobile shopping trends from Nov. 22 through Nov. 29 within the top 20 eBay product categories across eBay’s leading m-commerce markets.
Check out this demo video showing it in action:
