eBay Receives 2007 National Medal of Technology and Innovation

eBay is one of two companies (the other being Skunk Works, a division of Lockheed Martin) receiving the nation’s highest honor for technological and scientific achievement. US Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez joined President George W. Bush last week to announce the 2007 laureates for the National Medal of Technology and Innovation.

UPDATED: Interpark in discussions to sell Shares in Gmarket to eBay

It’s obviously early in the discussions but it appears that Interpark and Interpark’s Chairman, Ki Hyung Lee, are discussing the possibility of selling their shares in Gmarket to eBay. No one is confirming anything beyond the fact that a preliminary filing has been made with the Korean Fair Trade Commission.

The Belgian Tribunal de Commerce has dismissed all claims by L’Oreal (Lancome Parfums et Beaute) brought against eBay regarding, among other things, the sale of counterfeit L’Oreal cosmetics and perfume products online. Today, Tiffany & Co. announced that it is appealing the July 14, 2008 decision by a U.S. District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York that ruled eBay acted reasonably and responsibly to identify and expose the sale of counterfeit goods on the site.

Online Sellers Officially on IRS Radar

I saw a WSJ article last week breaking down how the new housing reform bill would include a provision that would require PayPal and other processors of online payments to report annual gross receipts to the IRS.
Ken Swab, senior federal government relations officer at PayPal, has since written about it on the PayPal blog.
