eBay Inc. announced earnings for Q4 and full year ended December 31, 2009. Fourth-quarter revenue was $2.4 billion, up 16% from the same period last year. This includes the $112 million in revenue from Skype during the period that we still fully owned it. The year-over-year increase was attributed primarily to “excellent growth in PayPal and StubHub and improvement in growth rates in the core eBay business, as well as the positive impact from foreign currency movements.” (More …)

eBay SEO: an Interview of Dennis Goedegebuure

Every company can point to a handful of employees and truly call them experts in their field. The best of the best. I think Dennis Goedegebuure is one of those people at eBay. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Dennis on a few projects over the past two years and I’ve attended more than one of his presentations dedicated to Search Engine Optimization (SEO). So when I saw his in-depth interview on seobook.com, I had to share it with Ink readers. It’s long and it’s worth the read. Check it out HERE.Cheers,

eBay Community Gives Record $50 Million to non-profits in 2009

People never cease to amaze me. At a time that sees everyone tightening their budgets and thinner in the wallet, eBay buyers and sellers raised a record $50 million for U.S. and U.K. non-profit organizations in 2009 – a 17% jump since last year. Users have contributed an amazing $162 million to their favorite causes through eBay Giving Works since 2003.Every little bit helps
While funds raised by nonprofits are at an all-time low, this year’s eBay Giving Works figures were released during a year of significant growth for online fundraising. Online giving is growing at 44% per year, seven times faster than offline giving growth. Online giving has enabled charities to leverage the power of the individual through smaller, more modest donations. (More …) -

What does Black Friday look like on eBay?
After all the turkey, beer, stuffing, wine, pork, beer, mashed potatoes, wine, pumpkin pie and wine that I had on Thursday I can’t imagine heading to the mall in the middle of the night to try and find the latest deal. After hosting an even dozen family and friends it was all I could do to login to eBay and check out all the deals without leaving the house on “Black Friday.” Looking at the hi-tech, flashy “heat map” over on the eBay Holiday site, I wasn’t alone.Essentially, eBay has created a transaction map of the United States that spans the duration of yesterday’s Black Friday shopping activity on the site. The map is a visualization of U.S.-based buyer and seller transactions over that 24-hour period. (More …)
