INFOGRAPHIC: eBay’s Annual “Top Shopped” for 2011

eBay announced its third annual “Top Shopped” report this morning, ranking the pop culture moments and trends based on related items sold on the eBay Marketplace.

At first glance to me, there didn’t seem to be any shock here; NFL, Twilight, Glee, iPad, etc. all seem to be obvious cultural winners. However, seeing Sade come in at the #7 spot – ahead of Justin Bieber (#8) – came as a pleasant surprise. Nice to see an artist that came out when I was a teenager pip the current teen heartthrob at the post.

Top Three Most Expensive Cross-Category Purchases on eBay Mobile:

Wow, Sade beats out Beiber?!? That does say something about the age of an eBay shopper, ya think? Well at least it say something about them having much better taste in music! LOL

Richard – you may want to get the eBay math folks to take a second look at this.

Sade (234,089)and GBP (234,089)should be a tie at 5, then iPad, then Bieber, then Glee.

Maybe you guys used the BestMatch algorithm here? ;-)

Thanks, Scot. The infographic is editorial in nature and these are eBay’s picks, “culled from items pertaining to pop culture phenomena across multiple categories.” We are not representing this as a list of the top 10 most-sold items on the marketplace at large. From our picks, based on actual sales data, it’s true that more Sade-related items sold than Bieber-related items.
