The @PayPal blog asks the question: “Will publishers back the new iPad?”

Corporate blogs – eBay Ink included – have a tendency to slip into “press release reformatting mode” if their editors aren’t careful (it’s something I admittedly struggle with every day) so it’s nice to see members of the leadership team talking about trends and timely questions over on the PayPal blog. For example, today Sam Shrauger, VP of Global Product Strategy for PayPal, speculated on whether or not publishers will back the new Apple iPad based on its new subscription plan for digital content.

Apple announced another “special event” to the media this morning. All the rumors point to unveiling the next generation iPad and I found myself wondering if Apple will have any publishers onstage to tout its new subscription plan for digital content.

Somehow I doubt it. We have heard from a number of publishers since last week who are outraged at Apple’s 30 percent cut, as well as the specification that they cannot offer content outside their app at the same price or less. Read more at The PayPal Blog

There will continue to be the perceived fluff and PR agenda with any corporate blog (the new lead story over on the PayPal blog is now focused on a new office opening in Arizona) but it’s refreshing and necessary to see executives and any representative of a company provide timely opinions and input on applicable trends and stories. Something I could certainly do more of here on eBay Ink.
