PayPal Announces Extended Consumer Protection in Asia Pacific
PayPal announced this week that it is now offering consumer protection to shoppers in the Asia Pacific region. The enhanced Buyer Protection policy protects shoppers if they receive an item that is different than described by the merchant and also if they do not receive the item they purchased using PayPal. With the success of PayPal’s iPhone app allowing users to deposit money into their PayPal account by taking a picture of the check, the idea of a “mobile wallet” is coming to life. The app, which has processed over 1 million in checks, has encouraged the company to take steps beyond online payments and experiment with other services such as allowing customers to pay for goods in a store using a mobile PayPal app on their phone.
