eBay Android app is available for free at the Android Market

The eBay Android app is now available for free at the Android Market and can be downloaded by searching “eBay” from the Android Market on your handset. In addition to traditional type search, the eBay application – like most Android apps – comes enabled with speech-to-text voice search. Simply tap the microphone button near the search bar and say what you’re searching for. The app will then automatically search for that item…

With the eBay application for Android, you can search, buy, pay, and check status of your eBay activity no matter where you are. The app will alert you about your auctions, so you never miss the opportunity to get that hard-to-find item! The app also features convenient voice-enabled search, status updates for sellers, and the ability to leave feedback. Whether it’s finding that special collectible, checking the status of your auctions, or paying with PayPal, eBay is open for business anytime, anywhere on your Android enabled phone.

From what I can tell visiting the Android Market website, the app is not yet available via their site, but I’ve been assured by Android users that the app is available directly from devices. I’ll update this post as I get new information.

I just searched for it in my android nexus one and I couldnt find it. Cannot wait for it to be available!!

It’s seem that this apps is only available for version 1.6 and higher and only for US users… we look forward in France…

I just downloaded the app and tried it on my Droid, and I must give credit, it’s very nice. I’ve been using the PKT eBay Auctions app up until now. However, the developers left just a few minor things out, things that are IMPORTANT. Is there any way to get suggestions back to them?

What is missing are the WATCH and HIT COUNTS on items you’re selling. This is shown on the PKT eBay app when you look at an item you’re selling. It’s also shown on the desktop My eBay, so why not on the mobile app?

The eBay mobile app actually does a LOT MORE than the PKT mobile app, but these missing items will likely mean I continue to use the PKT app as my primary application.

Can we fix/add this, or will we just be ignored like everything else?

Apps for my Droid change and get updated quickly, sometimes daily, so there is no reason for eBay to ignore this request.

Why not make the app available for direct download as the market is obviously artifically restrictive, I’m on a 2.0.1 firmare based Milestone in Australia.

Well, as usual, things fall on deaf ears. The app contains no way to get back to the developers with problems and suggestions. Every time I started this app it would do two force closes before starting. I’m not alone apparently, as comments on “The Market” from other users say the same thing. It offered no benefits over other applications that do the same thing, so I’ve uninstalled it from my Droid. I don’t recommend it.

When I bought the Droid 2.0.1 the Ebay app was pre-loaded. It is driving me nuts. I want to view my searched results using the newly listed feature. There are options at the app for you to click on buy now, or items ending soon etc…. So I click on “newly listed” do a search for an item and the Droid ignores the command you selected. The selection is green for newly listed items but it doesn’t execute the command. Does anybody who has the Droid have similar issues with having the sorting feature work?. Thanks.

I can’t believe it! What looks to be an incredible app – but I can’t find it on my Nexus One Market, which really sucks. I wonder how many sales this is costing ebay? I know that when I am on the road without my laptop, I won’t be buying anything from ebay.

Why can’t i access my EBay messages when using this app on my Droid? Is that an issue for anyone else? I sell and buy on eBay a lot and would like to be able to answer my buyers messages promptly when I’m on the go or away from my desktop. Any advice?

Been reading about the ebay mobile app. Most of the mobile apps only let you search, bid, buy and check status. I wish upcoming versions will include the sell that will enable you take pics for ebay merchants.

My HTC Incredible arrived two days ago, I use Ebay for selling and buying and I am a little disappointed that when I sign into My Ebay my phone will not show if I have any messages from other Ebay members or allow me to respond if I did have a message. Come on!
If Ebay members cannot communicate about auctions that is a big problem. Newdroid I understand your frustration. JJH also had a good point about not knowing how many hits your items are getting. These really need to be added so we can conduct business away from our computers.

Its brilliant but you cant sell anything from the app. My laptop is broken so im gutted i still cant sell anything without signing up to the library or borrowing a mates computer.

It’s a real shame that I can’t use this app to sell items from my Evo. This needs to be a feature that automatically comes built into the app. I do a lot of eBay business from my phone when I can. And its huge inconvenience to have to go back to my pc just to sell an item when I do everything else on eBay from my phone. I would pay for an app that could allow me to sell items from my phone.

Barbara, try eBay.ca to list from your droid with the browser feature. eBay.ca allows you to list in US dollars.
