Breaking Down Black Friday & Cyber Monday on eBay
eBay released more figures today regarding transactions made on the online marketplace over the Black Friday / Cyber Monday shopping period. The number of transactions on Cyber Monday increased by approximately 35% over Black Friday with each day yielding more than 1 million transactions.
Communities that made the most purchases on eBay
Black Friday:
• Santa Clara, CA (ZIP 95054)
• Miami, FL (ZIP 33166)
• Alpharetta, GA (ZIP 30022)
• Martinez, CA (ZIP 94553)
• Prairie Grove, AR (ZIP 72753)Cyber Monday:
• Prairie Grove, AR (ZIP 72753)
• Miami, FL (ZIP 33166)
• Alpharetta, GA (ZIP 30022)
• Santa Clara, CA (ZIP 95054)
• Martinez, CA (ZIP 94553)
One of the more interesting stats to note is that Prairie Grove, Arkansas, with a population of just 2,540, bought more items on eBay than any other U.S. ZIP code on Cyber Monday.
Heat Maps
eBay is visualizing the almost 2.5 million Black Friday and Cyber Monday transactions made across the country in two “heat maps.” The interactive maps display activity from buyers and sellers over the 24-hour periods of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Zoom down to a single ZIP code to see the range of transactions on eBay throughout the U.S.
On Saturday, I profiled the eBay “heat map” for Black Friday… ebayholiday.com/black-friday

The maps have also been developed as widgets, making it easy to embed on blogs and Web sites. To learn more about the widgets and get the code for use on your site, click “Share This” on the application or visit:

In related news, PayPal announced earlier today that for the third consecutive year, “PayPal saw double digit growth in online sales, or total payment volume (TPV), on Cyber Monday.”

Why does ebay allow buyers to leave a negative feedback if the seller has refunded thier money in full? Why does ebay think that is fair?

Woe to land-based business, I guess I was lucky to set-up an exclusive online commerce outfit. The figures are in-line with what I am seeing with my own businesses.

Interesting article, it’s crazy how that tiny zip code could beat out Miami for the top spot. I’m surprised we don’t see more big cities on that list. Where is NYC, LA, Chicago?
I know a lot of people here in Tampa that were buying and selling on eBay that week. I personally listed a few items through a drop-off store to save myself some time. http://www.isolditgulfcoast.com/

THIS GUY MADE ME AN OFFER FOR 2 ITEMS… I ACCEPTED ONE OFFER COUNTER OFFERED ON THE SECOND. HE GOT PISSED BECAUSE I DIDNT ACEPT BOTH OFFERS. DIDNT PAY FOR A THING AND WAS ABLE TO LEAVE NEG FEEDBACK. ACCORDING TO EBAY POLICIES FEEDBACK IS FOR BUYERS AND SELLERS. HOW CAN THIS GUY GET BY WITH LEAVING FEEDBACK AND NOT PURCHASING A THING? HE WAS IN VIOLATION OF EBAY POLICY AND I GOT THE SHAFT. EVEN GOT MY FINAL VALUE FEES BACK AND RELISTED THE ITEM.
SO HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN???

why is it that sellers list an item and say payment is due in 3 days then dont mail your item til 10 days later or even 2 weeks later, has happened to me a few times here lately.
