For those of you unaware, although I had a wonderful time on vacation with the family, I did become quite ill upon my return to the country. (Please spare the swine flu jokes – we’ve ruled it out:). As a result, I’ve been in and out of the office sporadically since we got back and I apologize for the radio silence. Still not out of the woods yet to be honest, but should be okay sooner rather than later.
However, on the work related front, I did see a new post over on the PayPal blog earlier today that I thought may be of interest:
This morning TechCrunch broke some very exciting news for PayPal. While we had not planned on the internal documents being shared this early, it is true that PayPal will be the first and only global payments platform open to third-party developers allowing them to easily monetize their ideas. PayPal will be hosting a limited-seating event on July 23rd where we will be revealing more details as well as a larger conference in November specific to this platform.
I’ve registered for the July 23rd Platform Preview event so I can report back here for folks. Here is the overview of the event (I’ll be skipping the optional code & build session):
During the main session you’ll learn about our new developer platform strategy. PayPal’s new suites of services will allow deeper access into PayPal core functionality, helping you to develop new and efficient payment solutions for goods and services….thereby providing the opportunity for you to grow your business. You’ll be inspired by cool new demos and partner announcements.
Following the main session, the optional Code & Build lab will give you the chance to work directly with PayPal’s next generation APIs, and to ask questions of our technical support staff. Please bring your own laptop if you plan to participate in the Code & Build.
Cheers,
RBH
