eBay Enjoys “la Victoire” in France
This morning, a Paris court ruled that eBay is not liable for the sale of any counterfeit L’Oreal products on the site. The case came about when L’Oreal alleged that eBay was profiting from the sale of counterfeit goods.
The judge ruled that eBay proved it was fulfilling its “obligation” to try to prevent the sale of fake goods. This is the second such case L’Oreal has lost against eBay, following a similar ruling in Belgium last year. (More …)

eBay announced the official launch of this program earlier today. The program is obviously targeted at the more casual online seller, inviting them to sell with no upfront risk and only having to pay a fee if the item sells. In a press release this afternoon eBay said that “the action is expected to capture efficiencies, expand support to customers and facilitate the delivery of new service programs focused on improving the eBay customer experience.”From what I can tell, the closure of the Vancouver facility by September of this year will result in the elimination of approx 700 customer service agent positions. Conversely, it appears that it is eBay’s intent to add jobs at both the Salt Lake City CS center and at other CS facilities around the globe. (More …)

eBay Hosts Law Enforcement Training Day; 5 Minutes with Jack Christin

A couple of weeks ago, eBay hosted 175 law enforcement officials from local, state, and federal agencies in and around the DC area at its East coast Law Enforcement Training Day (LED). I was unable to attend but I received the following event summary from Jack Christin (pictured above), Senior Regulatory Counsel for eBay Inc. (and die-hard Pittsburgh Steeler fan): (More …)
