John and Brett ~

If this "entertainment" piece was a departure from the norm, perhaps I wouldn't have said anything.

Let's go back a month or two. The whole ivory ban thing was nothing but puffed up fluff, as were these entries:

~eBay Community Gave $36 Million in 2008

~IFAW Applauds eBay for Global Ivory Ban; An Interview with Barbara Cartwright, IFAW Campaign Manager

~StubHub Launches "Tickets for Trees" for the NFL Playoffs

~The MightyLight: One Employee / One Million Lights

~2008 Most Trusted Companies for Privacy Award: eBay is #1 Internet Company; #2 Overall

~Another resource to help with Consumer Safety: GoodGuide.com Beta

~Consumer Electronics Go Big on Black Friday

~'Tis The Season...

~EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Nobel Laureate Celebrates MicroPlace One Year Anniversary

~Congratulations to Jack Sheng!

~Stand Up and Be Counted

~eBay Innovation Demo Expo

That's just in the past couple of months. I wouldn't call this "once in awhile".

I want to know what's going on behind the scenes at eBay. Where is JD attempting to take eBay? Is he hearing the discontent of the small sellers? Why were all these changes made, and don't give me data and metrics, give me the reasoning behind each one.

Why did eBay feel they had to tinker with Rajiv Gupta's Relevance Search, making it a one-size-fits-all, adding their own 'relevance factors', or filters, consequently destroying the concept of the entire set of algorithms?

What are these changes that Griff is hinting about? Is management seriously considering splitting auctions and fixed? Is there a possibility of an eBay Classic? What are the Positronic guys going to do with Search? Where are we going? Communicate with us, tell us some possibilities, and ask how we feel about them.

If Richard really has an inside track, I've seen no evidence of it.

Being in Software Support and also maintaining updates on all Social Networking sites for our software, I completely understand when there's a lot of content to post and when you are trying to scrape for news.

@Gail @Henrietta @Marc, when working for a large corporation and the company is making constant changes and all you hear is negativity, sometimes it's good to give people like Richard some slack here.

To add to the original post, Obama's Chrysler 300c is on eBay right now :: http://tinyurl.com/9bbep2

Calm down people. Why can't have an entertaining post once in a while that doesn't involve a heated debate.

Great Post!
I love how the trends and the times always show up on eBay as well!
I wrote about the election on one of my blogs, if you click my name above you will be able to view it direct.
Title was: The Presidential Race at eBay . I wrote it in September.
There were always more Obama listings on eBay then McCain during the elections. I found that very interesting!

@Richard

I have been a regular lurker here; however, don't post on this blog often. Gail has a good point that should be taken into consideration. The topics that are being presented here aren't really all that discussion worthy. It it is indeed your goal to have real discussion on this blog, we the readers will need material that is actually discussion worthy.

With all the negativity surrounding this site, it is fully understandable the frustrations you must be feeling. Ebay has become a complicated place. Sellers are looking for answers- many have become emotional by what has transpired here in the past year.

Don't take it personally Richard.

Richard,

Running out of topics?

Post one of those blog entries that are sitting in your drawer.

After listening to you on Griff's show, I actually thought we were going to be treated to some important topics. And, you come up with Obama listings? I can almost guarantee nobody cares. You're sure spinning your wheels lately.
