This coming Monday, September 29, eBay Research Labs will be hosting technology and research heads from Google, Microsoft, IBM, HP, SAP, Accenture and PARC for its second annual ResearchFest event.
The internal event is running from 10am – 6pm and, following a welcome by Lorrie Norrington and eBay Research Labs overview by Neel Sundaresan, the day will include two panel discussions:
1. Of Clouds, Services & Platforms – Is the Scalability Challenge Tackled?
Prith Banerjee, Sr. VP and Head, HP Labs
David Young, CEO, Joyent
Luke Hughes, Director of Research, Accenture Labs
Anne Hardy, Sr. VP, SAP Research
2. Corporate Research Labs – Challenges and Opportunities
Ashok Chandra, Microsoft Search Labs
Peter Norvig, Director of Research, Google
Jim Spohrer, Director of Services Research, IBM
Mark Bernstein, President & Director, PARC
Before the afternoon Poster and Demo sessions of eBay Research Labs projects, there will also be a special video presentation of eBay receiving the National Medal of Technology and Innovation at the White House, also taking place on Monday. eBay is the first Internet company to receive the Medal.
Unfortunately, I was not invited to the White House to live blog from the presentation. However, although the ResearchFest event is not open to the public, I will be using our Twitter feed (http://twitter.com/ebayinkblog) to cover it throughout the day on Monday.
I’m also hoping to get a guest blog post for readers from people attending the White House ceremony that I can share with you on Tuesday… still trying to nail that down.
Cheers,
RBH
