I do not have a paypal account, so will have to find another place to sell my items. Bad ebay for forcing sellers to only use paypal. Bad ebay for not paying sellers interest on money in their paypal bank account. Bad ebay for CHARGING sellers for banking with paypal. Ugh.

As far as search is concerned, I did my own little research on it focusing on ACEO's - that's almost 5,000 listings right in with the arts categories. If you have your sort set to Best Match and put ACEO in search - out will come every single listing with FREE SHIPPING no matter what the seller's DSR rating is!!! If you switch to something like Time Ending Soonest then you'll get a mix of free shipping and shipping priced listings. This is the kind of manipulation Ebay is using with Best Match...for their OWN revenue and certainly NOT to enhance the buyer's experience.

The sad part is they read what we are writing here and still don't get the fact that we can see right thru them!

...it is clearly a set-up to just rid the site of sellers who do not produce big money on a regular basis.

I see comments like this here and on the eBay discussion boards all the time, and for good reason. Despite what they say, it is quite apparent that eBay doesn't value the business of its smaller sellers. What I always wonder is just how big is big enough? I'm no mega-seller, by any stretch of the imagination. But I did pay just over $100,000 in eBay and PayPal fees last year. That's not big enough, so what is? And, no, I don't expect to actually receive an answer to that question.

I received 50%+ fewer page views the past two months, as compared to July and August of 2007. We're talking 47,000 per month last year, down to 20,000. That is a drastic drop. It's no wonder our sales are so far down lately. No one can find our listings because of eBay's broken search!

Here's a simple, straight-forward question I would like answered: What percentage of eBay members use the Best Match sort order?

You know who patronizes those "webinars"? the folks who are represented by the big advertising affiliates who decorate their stores and give them "selling strategies". Come on. The independent sellers who know what they are doing don't need to waste their money on those promoters, and most of these seminars are to sell these services to the sellers so they won't be scared and get booted off the site.

It couldn't be more obvious. The sellers who are being provided these services get featured first and foremost, and are excused from all the detrimental policies. That's pretty obvious as well.

No one bothers with the pretend support. It's pretend, it's fake, it's not real, and it really doesn't work in "real life" practices.Ebay has a ton of new policies that benefit the few advantaged sellers, and then they can't even offer support for the policies they DO change.

I'm usually a big complainer about ebay policies since most of them are big detriments to sellers, in general, and they really have "put me off" as a small vintage, antiques and collectibles seller. I had a very good rating, and I'm quite proud of the service I always provided, that being said, I've had my share of really bad experiences with con artists, which, thankfully, I managed to handle on my own without ebay's NON-HELP that they always pretend to offer sellers.

I must say, papal, though, has not been all that bad for me, has not caused me any mega problems, and was a lot easier to collect payment from, rather than the non paying buyers who continue to say they are (or they had) sending the check in the mail. I've had enough of those too! In fact, the news did not bother me in the least.

What DOES bother me, is that there will be way less in the way of bidders for our auction goods since this policy will be excluding them from bidding as well. If they see paypal is required, they will just leave the site. That won't be very good for business. It's kind of a stupid move on their part.

I rarely got that many checks, but the ones I did get were kind of late, and the one lady who didn't liek that she was paying for priority mail for me to ship to her marked my stars down to 4.9's and one 4.8. That's when I knew I had enough.

This lady was late with her check. She couldn't even find my invoice on her computer, I waited patiently, and then shipped immediately without even waiting for the check to CLEAR!!Come on now folks!!!!

In my auction ad I clearly state "IF YOU DON'T LIKE PAYING FOR the only type of shipping I offer, PRIORITY MAIL, WITH FREE INSURANCE,FREE DELIVERY CONFIRMATION, AND FREE PACKAGING AND PROCESSING, THEN DON'T BID ON MY AUCTIONS!"

Can one get any clearer? I never charged one penny more than the EXACT priority mail price for under one pound, flat rate. DUH. What a deal! And she still sends a late check and dings my stars. No.

Forget that. I will not sell again here. Ebay clearly does not hear the sellers. They clearly do not hear anyone but the parasitic infested "affiliated" sellers.I should have made THAT clearer. LOL!

Add to that, being locked into a BETA test for a month that didn't work? How stupid can one company be? If this is not stupidity, then it is clearly a set-up to just rid the site of sellers who do not produce big money on a regular basis.

If that is what the reason is, then tell your buddies up there to just be honest and "say so". Most of us will be glad to unregister if that is the case.

There are other venues coming that are chomping at the bit for the antiques and collectibles auctions business. And they will soon make away with all the small good sellers here. You'll see!

Fred it does say what the transaction limits are, I made a comparison chart on my blog today and of course it is very favorable to PayPal.

Miss Pat, in February it was an adjustment, August we are trying rebalancing for flavor of the month. Its the same dish.

Unfortunately those of us who weren't hatched yesterday remember Bill Cobb rebalancing the marketplace in 06.

Far more interesting to me this week is the news that no transactions will be permitted in the UK for less than one pound which is more or less $2 because, there are fears of feedback manipulation. This simultaneous with eBay Australia teaching buyers to search for 99c items that have no bids in advertising campaigns.

Lets not forget the retirement of Store Inventory Format in the UK. If you get the 'right' improved shop for a mere 15 pounds or approx $30 a month (basic) you can pay a mere 20p per 30 day BIN instead of 6 pounds or approximately $12 with 3p x 30 day SIF.

250% increase in 'Shop Fees', 600%+ in IF BUT you do get search visibility.

@Big Fredd - yep they would never take a real competitor on board with them...why should they. The object is to have Propay look so undesireable that Paypal actually looks good! ...but we're supposed to look on it as a "choice" GOOGLE checkout would be a choice! :-)

OK, so I checked the propay site, which told me nothing I need to know. There are transaction limits, but we won't say what there are. There are monthly limits, but we want your life history before we'll tell you what they are.

The only thing it tells me is they charge more than PayEnemy, plus an annual fee. That's all most people will need to know to eliminate it, which is all ebaY really wants.

Brandon,

Please, eBay will humiliate or buy out your company in the end.

You are wasting your time if you think they allowed your payment system is to your benefit. It is not.

Sellers are smart enough to see what is going on here.

I am sorry that the truth hurts sometimes.

I have been seeing lots of comments and questions coming in about ProPay and wanted to try to shed some light on the subject. ProPay is going to be added to eBay's acceptable payments in October. EBay has no financial affiliation with us. ProPay is a credible company that has been around for 11 years. We do charge a small yearly fee but we offer several features and WE will actively fight against fraud for our customers. Keep watching for more news from us. At the end of September we will be announcing a new special account for our eBay customers.
