Interactive Floor Plan from eBay Live!

Each year, the eBay Internal Communications team sets up an interactive floor map of the Solutions Center at eBay Live that employees, who are unable to attend the conference, can access. I wanted to see if I could take the interactive map and make it accessible to eBay Ink readers this year. Unfortunately, given the many sessions and deadlines we were under last week I was unable to make it happen during the conference.

However, I still thought the images and video would be of interest and you can now access at: http://ebayinkblog.com/ebaylive/

Thank you to the internal comms team for sharing all the files and making it possible to be accessed publicly. This is a first.

Secondly, I would like to take a moment to personally thank my blog support team at Voce Communications. I realize it looks like I’m doing this solo here at eBay but I actually have a team that specializes in social media that helps me keep eBay Ink running and humming along. They’re the group that helps me incorporate the “you say” and “we say” modules. They also help me with all of the rich media content (such as the video module) and are responsible for incorporating the eBay Live! map into eBay Ink.

Cheers,
RBH

Interesting. You mentionned accessibility to eBay employees. How do employees access information at eBay and what other kind of information is accessible to eBay employees?

BTW.. until you mentionned all the help you have, I as under the impression you were a one-man show who was able to do it all.(ha!)

Like most companies, eBay has an Intranet complete with internal blogs, interactive discussions, press coverage and a video channel all accessible by employees. Much like some of the channels here on Ink.

re: the support team. I’m not saying I’ve got it easy :) but I do need to go to bed too.

Cheers,
RBH

what are all the red boxes?

A lot of us don’t get to sleep why do you think you should be able to??

Richard Brewer-Hay On 06.25.2008 at 2:42 pm Said:

- The red boxes represent the individual booths on the show floor (partners, eBay, vendors, etc.)

- Sorry. What was I thinking?

Richard, I posted on “back to it” and I would appreciate a reply when you have time. It’s post #24 and I’m adding another. Your response would be appreciated.

I have no idea what you were thinking!

I have shingled a roof wearing dress shoes, and I have mowed a wet lawn with a homemade electric lawnmower. But I have never! Ever! Gone without the correct amount of sleep. That’s dangerous!

I’m intrigued. What does ‘Seller Scalability’ mean?

HenriettaOn 06.27.2008 at 2:19 pm Said:

Seller Scaleability is one of those wonderful terms which MBA’s learn in economics classes. It refers to the degree to which the scale and scope of a business can be increased without a corresponding increase in costs.

For example: You are a one person business. As your sales grow there will come a time when there is a bit too much work for one person to do, properly. Do you hire someone? Can your business stand the cost or should you look at other ways to improve your personal productivity?

There is a whole industry out there with the ideal solution, or series of solutions at varying prices.
